Woods named SEK boys basketball Coach of the Year

Jordan Woods has won back-to-back SEK titles in his first two years leading the Purple Dragons.

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pittsburg High School head coach Jordan Woods has been named the SEK boys basketball Coach of the Year.

“I think it’s great. It just shows how much my players bought in this year to what we’re trying to do,” Woods says, “I just want to thank them for bringing it every day,”

Pittsburg won the SEK league title for the 6th time in the last 7 years, finishing with a 16-5 overall record.

Woods has now won the SEK championship in each of his first two seasons as Pittsburg’s head coach.

“It’s one of those things I always talk about with the kids, being immortal with your school and what mark you want to leave,” Woods says of winning the SEK, “We always point to the banners that hang in every gym you go to. Those don’t go anywhere. I talk to the kids about those and how much they want to leave their mark when they leave here. That’s very big thing in our program.”
