A banjo dash, tonight, kicks off the 18th annual “Carl Junction Bluegrass Festival.” Tomorrow the main event will get underway at Center Creek Park where nine bands will take the stage. Organizers say this year’s festival is bigger than ever with events spanning over two days, and crowds that are expected to almost double the city’s population. There will be plenty of vendors, bluegrass music, and more to keep the whole family entertained.

“What’s exciting about it, we’ve really expanded for the kids. Obviously we have the bounce attractions because those are a hot commodity, face painting is big, balloon magic. We’ve got pony rides. And then, because we think kids should be creative at a young age we’ve partnered with Spiva Center for the Arts and Art Feeds, both, to have art projects going on in the park tomorrow,” says Gary Stubblefield of the Carl Junction Chamber of Commerce.

Early birds can purchase new VIP parking and bring a lawn chair to enjoy the show. The event is free of charge. No alcohol is allowed.
