Southeast Elementary School in Weir, Kansas as a precaution made some changes due to the boil advisory issued by the city. Students enrolled in the Kansas Reading Roadmap summer program were asked to not drink from the water fountains and not to wash their hands in the sinks. Crews brought over water coolers from Cherokee for drinking water. Hand sanitizers were available for students and staff to wash their hands.

Cooking staff also used water coolers from Southeast High School to wash cooking utensils. The staff will clean all items used to cook food once the boil advisory is lifted. To eliminate large amounts of dishes the district supplied styrofoam trays and utensils for breakfast and lunch.

The district hopes to find out the status of the water Wednesday morning by 9 am.
