Webb City’s Weathers named MaxPreps Missouri Player of the Year

Weathers rushed for 1,782 yards and 28 touchdowns last fall.

WEBB CITY, Mo. – Webb City running Devrin Weathers has earned yet another honor for his performance in his senior season for the Cardinals.

Weathers has been named the MaxPreps Missouri High School Player of the Year, after posting 1,782 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns last fall for Webb City. He helped the Cardinals finish with an 11-2 record and make the Missouri Class 5 state semifinals.

“I thought it was a big deal. I’ve worked hard all four years in high school,” Weathers says of the honor, “I just had the feeling that it’s paying off now. I was pretty surprised, honestly. I was a little shocked. I thought I had a pretty good senior season, and I stayed healthy, too. That was a big part of my year. I just wanted to stay healthy.”

Weathers will play baseball for Webb City this spring, before heading to Manhattan to play football for the Kansas State Wildcats.

“I’m pretty excited. Talking to some of the guys, some of them are already there,” Weathers says, “They’re having a good time, and I’m just really excited to join them.”
