WEBB CITY, Mo. – Webb City High School senior Treghan Parker announced his commitment to Missouri Southern baseball on Monday afternoon.

“The coaching staff has stayed in contact with me and I know they’re a winning program,” Parker says of joining the Lions, “The coaches have been awesome, and I also have a few buddies playing over there, so I felt like it would be a great fit.”

Parker has been recruited to play on the infield for Missouri Southern.

“I want to work for a starting spot, and do whatever I can to help the team,” Parker says of his goals when he gets on campus at MSSU, “I want to play early, so I’ll do whatever I can to do that.”

Parker earned All-District and All-Conference recognition as a sophomore at Webb City on the baseball field. His junior season was cut short in the spring due to COVID-19.

He’s also a standout on the football field, earning All-State recognition as a defensive back for the Cardinals last season and helping them win their 15th state championship in program history.

“It’s always been my dream to play college baseball,” Parker says, “I’m thankful for the opportunities that football has given me, but playing baseball again this summer, after missing out in the spring, it really made me want to continue playing after high school.”

Parker is about to begin his senior year at Webb City High School. While he knows what he’s doing after he graduates, he still has plenty to do between now and May.

“I want to keep getting bigger and stronger, and I just want to finish high school and make more memories,” Parker finishes, “Football is still a big part of me. I want to go out there and hopefully win a state championship this fall. When baseball season comes around hopefully we can also get out there and do some big things, too.”
