This week is week one of the high school football season in Missouri. On Friday, there’s a big game to open up the season in southwest Missouri, with Webb City hosting Carl Junction.

These two teams are no strangers. They’ve played four times the last two years with CJ joining the COC, including playing twice in the district championship. Friday will be the third straight year Webb and CJ have played in week one of the regular season.

“In the back of our minds we all know there’s a chance we could play again,” says Webb City head coach John Roderique, “Districts came out, we’re in the same district again. Right now we’re just worrying about where are we at week one. Obviously worrying more about ourselves and what we do as much as what they do.”

“It’s great,” says Webb City senior tight end Jacob Monroe, “The atmosphere, obviously the first game of the season, there’s a lot of fans. Plus it being CJ, there’s a lot of fans, and like I said…the atmosphere is crazy.”

Tune into “Four State Friday Night” on KOAM at 10:20 Friday night to check out highlights from the game.
