Webb City man arrested in Lamar homicide case

LAMAR, Mo. – Authorities file charges against a Webb City man suspected in the death of 51-year-old Terry G. Harless in Lamar, Missouri.

Police suspect 27-year-old Lane Bronson of second degree homicide. They were able to locate Bronson, who was being held in the Vernon County Jail for charges in Jasper County (possession and tampering with witness in felony prosecution). The Lamar Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Southwest Missouri Major Case Squad helped in the investigation that led to Bronson’s arrest.

The crime happened on July 13, 2020. Around 5:19 a.m., Lamar police officers got a call about gunshots and responded to the 700 block of Broadway.

Officers found a deceased man, Harless, at a home on that block. According to a release from the Lamar Police Department, it appeared “to be an isolated incident..”

Several agencies started assisting them, investigating his death as a homicide.

“Lamar Police Chief Joe Moore would especially like to thank the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Major Case Squad, as well as the Missouri State Crime Labs, for the many hours dedicated to this case; we are grateful for their dedication to this case,” Lamar PD stated in a release. “This was a case solved with science and good old fashion police work” said Chief Moore.
