T-storms chances in the Southwest today

While we stay dry

JOPLIN, Mo. - We're continuing to watch our next upper level low in the western US. For the rest of the day and tonight, it won't be a bother for us. It will, however, be a bit of an issue for the Desert Southwest. The setup isn't ideal for severe weather, but the upper low will have cool air aloft and enough moisture/lift at the surface. That will be enough for scattered showers and t-storms for parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado this afternoon and evening.
