T-storm chances stay mainly north for today

So will the severe threat

JOPLIN, Mo. - A cold front to the north of the area working with an upper level wave is promoting quite a bit of t-storms for Tuesday. The brunt of the t-storms may be staying over in Illinois and northern Missouri, but any outflow coming from those t-storms could try to spark a random t-storm or two in our area late this afternoon and early this evening.

The Storm Prediction Center is maintaining their enhanced risk for severe weather with the strongest t-storms working through Illinois and into the Ohio River Valley. Those t-storms will be capable of 60 to 70 mph wind gusts and some large hail. Otherwise, a slight risk extends from the Ohio River Valley back northwest into Nebraska. That's due to additional t-storms that will develop late this evening and into the overnight hours. Those t-storms could be capable of large hail and some damaging winds.
