Late Thursday August 8th - Trending drier & hotter through the coming weekend

Starting off with some rain chances on Friday

JOPLIN, Mo. - Good late Thursday evening, everyone. Our Thursday got off to a loud start with heavy rain and some severe t-storms this morning. That left behind quite a bit of rain that led to some areal flooding and flash flooding. We trended toward a drier afternoon and evening across much of the area. That allowed highs to climb back to about 80 this afternoon. We still have more rain chances we're keeping an eye on, but we're starting this late Thursday night out on an overall quiet note on the radar below...

We're starting our weekend out with another shot for some t-storms and heavy rain as we get your Friday morning started. Thankfully, we'll improve throughout the day as temperatures get a chance to properly warm up for the afternoon. Even with some more t-storm chances to keep an eye on, we will trend back to the usual summer heat and humidity over the next several days. Your latest look at the forecast is right below...

Don't forget about Doug's long range forecast through the middle of September right below.

Have a good night and a great Friday!
