JOPLIN, Mo. - Good late Thursday evening, everyone. Our Thursday got off to a loud start with heavy rain and some severe t-storms this morning. That left behind quite a bit of rain that led to some areal flooding and flash flooding. We trended toward a drier afternoon and evening across much of the area. That allowed highs to climb back to about 80 this afternoon. We still have more rain chances we're keeping an eye on, but we're starting this late Thursday night out on an overall quiet note on the radar below...
We're starting our weekend out with another shot for some t-storms and heavy rain as we get your Friday morning started. Thankfully, we'll improve throughout the day as temperatures get a chance to properly warm up for the afternoon. Even with some more t-storm chances to keep an eye on, we will trend back to the usual summer heat and humidity over the next several days. Your latest look at the forecast is right below...

Next Week: A hot start to the week with lower 90s and pop up storms each day. Cooling a hair back into the 80s for mid week, then back into the 90s the rest of the week. Chances for pop-up storms each day.
August 18th-24th: Mainly a warm week with mid to upper 80s. Chances for thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday, then again on Wednesday and Thursday.
August 25th-31st: Mainly a hot week leading into Labor Day weekend. Thunderstorm chances on Wednesday and Thursday, then again for the weekend.
September 1st-7th: Another hot week with scattered storms on Sunday, Friday and Saturday.
September 8th-14th: Mainly a warm week with scattered storms on Sunday and Monday.
