JOPLIN, Mo. - With our jet stream finally starting its retreat to the north, we're finally beginning to see the early summer weather setup return. The northward retreat of the jet means the stronger storm systems will have a tendency to stay to the north of the area. That will allow us more chances to dry out after several weeks of rainfall across the area.
We may have to keep an eye out for the potential of organized t-storms late Tuesday night and early Wednesday this week. For the most part, our rain chances will be possible on a daily basis after today. These chances are what we usually see during the early part of the summer. Any storms that pop will be very isolated, they won't last long, and they usually dissipate by sunset. Rain amounts over the next 7 days, as a result, should stay minimal at under half an inch.
