Warm & dry for today

While t-storms stay to our north and west
Warm & dry for today

With our front staying off to the north and west of us today and an upper level ridge in control, that will keep us partly to mostly sunny for the rest of the day. With a south wind also in play, that will keep us warm with highs in the middle 80s.

The front that worked back to the north yesterday will be the focal point for t-storms going into the afternoon and evening. With warm air, moisture, instability and upper level support to work with, the Storm Prediction Center is anticipating some severe weather chances later today. The best chance for severe weather is with the slight risk outlined for southeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. T-storms in that area will have a better chance for large hail and high wind as they develop later on this afternoon. Along the cold front, a marginal risk extends back through Iowa, Nebraska and extreme northwestern Kansas. A few storms this afternoon along the front could be severe, but strong storms are mainly expected along the cold front later this afternoon and evening.
