Wanda C. (Raymond) Houts, 90, formerly of Altamont and Parsons, passed away at 5:15 a.m., Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Neodesha Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 24, 1928 in rural Altamont, Kansas to George William and Martha Estelle (Thompson) Raymond. As a young girl, Wanda grew up in the Altamont area where she attended school and graduated in 1946 from Labette County Community High School.

She and John Houts were married December 14, 1946 at the United Methodist Church in Oswego. Following marriage, the couple lived in and around Altamont until moving to Parsons in 1958. For ten years, she worked at the Labette County State Bank in Altamont and later for 25 years at the Reynolds and Hughes Insurance Agency in Parsons until retiring in 1985.

She was a member of the Altamont United Methodist Church where she served 12 years on the Administrative Board as secretary and treasurer and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

One Grandson – Patrick Houts, Jr. of Fredonia, KS

Daughter-in-law – Loretta Houts of Fredonia, KS

Two Step-Grandchildren – Caleb Chambers of Pittsburg, Kansas

Alex Chambers of Fredonia, KS

Three Step-Great-Grandchildren – Megan Chambers of Bartlesville, OK, Avery Chambers of Fredonia, KS and Easten Chambers of Fredonia, KS

One Sister – Linda Daniel of Bartlesville, OK

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Houts, on November 17, 2001; and son, Patrick D. Houts, on April 23, 2018, and one sister Winona Mayfield, on January 27, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2109 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. Friends may call at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
