Virginia M. Banks

June 26, 1948 - September 26, 2022

Virginia Banks

Virginia Banks, 74, of Atlanta, Georgia, and formerly of Parsons, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia Marie Redmond was born on June 26, 1948, to Emmarine Ponds and Joseph Redmond, the eldest girl of six children, in Parsons. She was beautiful, smart and caring.

While living in Parsons, Virginia had four children, Michael, Mitchell, Stanley and Misty. She always prayed for a better life for her family so she relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she met and married her late husband, Joseph Banks.

As her family grew, Virginia relished in the things she accomplished on her vision boards. She successfully achieved every goal she out for herself. Though her life had trials and tribulations, Virginia stood strong and persevered.

Virginia loved road-trips to not only new places, but to stay connected with her family. She loved long conversations and sitting on the porch. A few of her favorite things included watching Gunsmoke, lounging in her cave, and shopping.

In late 2006, Virginia retired from her 25-year career at Honeywell and relocated to Atlanta. She would always say “I came to Georgia and got my peach!”. She lived in a small house in a quiet neighborhood called “Polar Rock”. Virginia spent her last days living and lpving on her great-grandchildren. Still putting her visions together, still shopping and staying up late for Gunsmoke Marathons.

Though she fought long and hard in the hospital, she was able to come home and spend her final moments surrounded by love. We’d like to think Virginia went hand-in- hand into Glory with her Aunt Claretha that evening.

Survivors include:

Three children – Michael Redmond, Stanley Mosely and Misty Woods

Fourteen grandchildren

Four great-grandchildren

Two brothers -David Hickles and Ojay Hickles Jr.

A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Banks; one son, Mitchell Mosley; and a host of other loved ones.

Virginia was a strong, elegant, graceful woman who took pride in her life and loved with an open heart. She will truly be missed.

The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
