JOPLIN, Mo. – In honor of Veterans Day this year, 2021, restaurants, stores and other businesses are offering discounts and freebies for veterans and military members. There are also several 4-State events you can take part in to honor veterans.

Veterans Day Events

Newton County, Mo.

  • Newton County will host an abbreviated event to honor our Nation’s veterans. November 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. on the main floor of the Courthouse in Neosho. Retired Army National Guard SGT David Osborn will be the guest speaker. Veterans in attendance will also be recognized. All area veterans and their families along with the public are invited to attend. (Information from the Newton County Commission)

Jasper County, Mo. 

  • The Sarcoxie Vocational Organizations will put on a Veteran’s Day Assembly to honor our Veterans. All Veterans and family welcome. Assembly 9 to 10, brunch 10-11 RSVP for brunch please. (Information from The Sarcoxie Vocational Organizations)
  • The Carthage VFW Post 2590 is hosting an event to celebrate Veterans Day on November 11 from 11 am to 12 pm at the Carthage Memorial Hall.
  • There’s a Veterans Day Dance at the Elks Lodge in Joplin on Wednesday, November 10th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. You can learn more about this here.

Crawford County, Kan. 

  • Pittsburg State University will return to an in-person Veterans Day ceremony this year as part of the university’s annual observation of the national holiday. The ceremony is planned for 1 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Veterans Memorial, 1909 S. Rouse Ave., Pittsburg, Kansas. It is presented as a civics lesson for local sixth graders and is open to the public. Veterans Day Free Meals

To honor members of the military, these restaurants are offering veterans free meals on or around Veterans Day, November 11.

***Most businesses require proof of military service, and the deals include participating locations only. It’s recommended you call specific locations to make sure they are taking part in the promotions.***

Tommy’s Barbershop — (1508 S. Main Street in Joplin Missouri) is having Free Haircuts for Veterans and active-duty military, Thursday, November 11th, 2021 from 10 am-6 pm. Walk – in’s or call 417-434-0780.

Applebee’s — Veterans and active-duty military receive a free meal when dining in from a special menu on November 11. And when dining in on November 11, military guests will receive a $5 bounce back card to redeem for dine-in, To Go or delivery within three weeks.

Buffalo Wild Wings — Veterans and active-duty service members get a free order of 10 boneless wings and fries on November 11. The offer is available for dine-in or takeout (online ordering excluded).

Casey’s General Stores — Service members both past and present get a free coffee on November 11Casey’s has a long history of supporting service members and military veterans in Joplin and beyond. In a month-long campaign launching today, guests across Casey’s 16-state footprint can support two prominent nonprofit organizations: Hope For The Warriors and Children of Fallen Patriots 

Chili’s  Veterans and active-duty service members get a free meal from a select menu on November 11. Available for in-restaurant only.

Cicis Pizza — Veterans and active-duty military get a free adult buffet on November 11. Dine-in only. Coupon required.

Colton’s Steak House & Grill — Veterans and active-duty service members get a free entrée on November 11 until 4 pm. Available for dine-in only. Offer not available in Kentucky locations.

Country Kitchen — Active and retired military get a free Country Scramble on November 11 at participating locations. Dine-in only.

Denny’s — Veterans and active military personnel get a free Build Your Own Grand Slam on November 11, from 5 a.m. to noon. Dine-in only.

Dunkin’ Donuts — On November 11, veterans and active-duty military receive a free donut at participating locations. Offer available in-store only.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers — Veterans and current military personnel get a card for a free Freddy’s Original Double combo meal on November 11 that can be used until November 30, 2021.

Hard Rock Cafe — Active-duty and retired military members get a free original Legendary Steak Burger on November 11. Military members can also enjoy Hard Rock Cafe’s 15% off military discount on any other items.

IHOP — Veterans and active-duty military get free Red, White & Blueberry Pancakes at participating locations on November 11. Dine-in only.

Little Caesars — Veterans and active-duty military get a free Lunch Combo at participating stores on November 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Pilot Flying J — Veterans get a free meal at participating locations November 11 through a special offer in the app.

Red Lobster — Veterans, active-duty military and reservists get a free appetizer or dessert from a special menu on November 11. Dine-in only.

Starbucks — Veterans, military service members and military spouses get a free tall (12-oz) hot brewed coffee at participating stores on November 11.

Texas Roadhouse – The event is drive-thru only, but vouchers can be redeemed when the restaurant opens for dinner. on Thursday, November 11, between 11am – 2pm, the restaurants will distribute meal vouchers in the parking lot, valid through May 30, 2022. Vouchers can be redeemed for one of 10 entrees including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/iced tea or coffee.

Wendy’s — Active-duty military and veterans get a free breakfast combo on November 11 at participating locations from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Businesses with Veterans Day Deals

  • JiffyLube is offering a discount for veterans on November 11, 2021. “As a thank you for your service, enjoy 50% off all oil changes on November 11th for all active, veteran and retired military.” You can find the flyer and coupon here.
  • Aspen Dental’s Day of Service is opening their doors to provide free care to military veterans across the country. Spouses and significant others are also eligible for free appointments. Now in its 7th year, the Day of Service provides much-needed dental care for veterans at no cost to honor their service and break down barriers to health care.
