Update: June Homicide Investigation in Parsons, KS

The Kansas Attorney General’s Office says no suspects are in custody in connection with a Parsons homicide.

On June 20th, 2018, the Parsons Police Department received a call about a body. They arrived at a home on the 2600 block of Kimball Street and found a deceased male. Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Tyjuan Maurice Campbell of Pittsburg.

Police requested assistance from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, obtained search warrants and began processing the scene.

The next day, Jim Zaleski, a spokesperson for the city, told KOAM/FOX14 that a person of interest was identified but no arrests had been made. No names were released and Zaleski said it was believed to be an isolated incident.

Today, August 22nd, 2018, the Public Information Officer for the Kansas Attorney General’s Office told KOAM/FOX14 that “Any criminal prosecution resulting from the investigation will be handled by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office at the request of the Labette County Attorney. Any charges that might arise from the investigation are merely accusations. Individuals are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty. No charges have been filed. No suspects are in custody. We have nothing further at this time.”

The cause of death has not been released to KOAM/FOX14.
