Update: Jasper co. deputies  arrest man wanted in Newton County home invasion

Update: Jasper county Chief Deputy Derek Walrod said deputies were investigating a report of a prowler when a suspect vehicle was spotted and a pursuit began around 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

The chase moved into Barton county near highway 126 where the suspect vehicle crashed into a guardrail. The driver and passenger fled the vehicle. Deputies were able to catch the passenger who turned out to 34 year Jason Arthur Duncan of Granby. Duncan was wanted on warrants from Newton county for robber, armed criminal action, assault first degree and burglary second degree in connection with a home invasion in August 3rd. He was allegedly robbing a home when the owner arrived. Duncan is accused of shooting at the homeowner but hitting a vehicle instead.

Walrod said Duncan was not armed when taken into custody but could be charged with resisting arrest in Jasper county.

The Newton County Sheriff’s office released the following information, October 13th, 2019.

“Jason Duncan was arrested overnight and is currently in custody in Jasper County.

Duncan is facing charges of Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.

Great job to Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for capturing Duncan.”

Authorities have been searching for Duncan, 34, for more than a month. He was identified as the man wanted in a home invasion in Newton County.
