Two People Rescued in Wildcat Glades

On September 5th, 2018, authorities received a call about two males who had fallen off a cliff and were injured. The Joplin Fire Department responded to the area of Wildcat Glades near low water bridge shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Crews arrived to the cliff area, locally known as Mother Nature’s Crack, and used ropes to get down to two males. Once down there, crews assessed the males for injuries then took them back to the top of the cliff using a rope rigging system. The males were taken to a local hospital. One adult male had non-life-threatening injuries. No word on the second male.

The Joplin Fire Department was assisted by Redings Mill Fire, Mets and Newton County Ambulance. Units were on scene until 11:43 p.m.

The JFD says they respond to about four rescue calls at Wildcat Glades each year.
