Two People Killed in Separate Overnight Car Crashes

Two fatal single car crashes occurred in Newton County early Tuesday morning.

According Missouri Highway Patrol accident reports the first crash happened around 4 a.m. in Newton County.

50-year-old James McNally, of Joplin, was driving southbound on Jaguar Road, 1 mile south of Joplin.

McNally’s 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix veered of the left side of the road striking a fence post.

The driver and only occupant was announced dead at the scene by the Newton County Coroner.

At 4:40 a.m. Coralee Maki, of Pittsburg, was driving her 1994 Pontiac Grand AM on U.S. 60, 3 miles west of Neosho in Newton County.

Maki was driving westbound when she veered off the left side of the road and struck an embankment, causing the car to overturn several times ejecting the driver.

Maki was pronounced dead at the scene by Newton County Deputy Coroner Deens.
