Troopers ask for witnesses in an Ottawa County fatal crash

OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. – Troopers are looking for witnesses to a fatal crash in Ottawa County, Oklahoma.

The crash happened on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, around 7:45 a.m. about 1.6 miles NE of Wyandotte on OK-10.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling north swerved to avoid a truck that was turning east on a county road. The Cobalt crossed the center line and hit a 2015 Dodge Durango head on.

The OHP is asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to call the NE Communications Center at 918-627-3881.

The driver of the Cobalt, Alexys Crawford, 20, of Wyandotte, died at the scene. There were no passengers.

The driver of the Durango was treated at Freeman Hospital in Joplin and released with injuries to the leg. There were two juveniles in the Durango, neither were injured.

The truck is an unknown flatbed pickup.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
