Trade Review Board returns in Pittsburg
For more than 25 years the city of Pittsburg has forgone a Trade Review Board – instead relying on the city’s building official to approve applicants wanting to obtain a trade license.
Each applicant must be sponsored by a city in the state of Kansas.
Pittsburg Commissioners approved the Trade Review Board at Tuesday night’s commission meeting.
The board will consist of seven members involved with the trade industry each will serve a three year term.
The board will look over the applicant’s previous experience and determine if that person should be sponsor by the city to take the exam.
City officials say the process will eliminate the possibility of unfair treatment and protect the public from unqualified workers.
Once an applicant applies the city says approval or non-approval will come no more 10 days later.
