Three Gorillas earn All-America honors

Vincent, West named 3rd team All-Americans


Three members of the Pittsburg State University football team earned All-America honors from the 2019 Don Hansen Football Committee today (Jan. 27).

Senior wide receiver Lorenzo West and senior placekicker Jared Vincent garnered third-team All-America accolades, while senior cornerback KiAnte Hardin was named to the honorable mention All-America list.

West (Lawton, Okla.) caught 52 passes a team-leading 1,187 yards (22.8 ypc) and 13 touchdowns, averaging 107.9 receiving yards per game. He finished the season ranked second in the MIAA and ninth in NCAA Division II in receiving yards. For his career, West caught 148 passes for 2,595 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Vincent (Claremore, Okla.) made 20 of 23 field goals on the season, ranking second in NCAA Division II in field goals per game (1.82 pg). He scored a team-leading 113 points leading Division II in kick scoring (10.3 pg). Vincent converted 46 of 56 career field goal attempts (.821) and scored 276 career points (8.1 ppg).

Hardin (Webb City, Mo.) recorded four interceptions and 11 pass break-ups on the season. He ranked second in the MIAA in passes defended (15) and third in the league in interceptions. Hardin made six interceptions and 15 pass break-ups in 17 career games for the Gorillas.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.  Don Hansen’s Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.
