Third person is charged after hospital bomb threat
Police say Cox Barton County Hospital was evacuated because a man didn't want to take a drug test.
BARTON COUNTY, Mo. – Lamar, Missouri police say patients at Cox Barton County Hospital were evacuated because a man didn’t want to take a drug test. A probable cause statement from Lamar police says Jason Gates was waiting to take a drug test at the hospital yesterday afternoon. Police say Gates was afraid he wouldn’t pass that test, so he got some help from his family: His mom, Terrie Walker, and his brother, Chris Gates.
Police say the two called the hospital and said, “There is a bomb out there.”
Walker admitted to police that she made the threat. Walker and Chris Gates are charged with making a terroristic threat. Jason Gates is charged with second degree making a terroristic threat.
