Thieves steal Grandma’s ashes from a Wichita, Kansas hotel parking lot

WICHITA, Kan. – A Minnesota family needs your help bringing their grandmother home. While traveling through Kansas, car thieves stole the van carrying their grandma’s ashes. Last Saturday 81-year-old Thomas LeCuyer was driving from his home in Arizona to Minnesota with his wife’s ashes to bury her in her home state. He parked his van at a hotel in Wichita. But when LeCuyer woke up, his car was gone.

Police say the stolen van is a white 2015 Dodge Caravan with an Arizona license plate. LeCuyer’s wife’s ashes weren’t the only thing stolen along with the van. There was also a box with all of the paperwork for the cemetery she was headed to, including her death certificate. And there was also an envelope of cash with $28,000, money LeCuyer had saved to pay for the funeral. If you have any information please contact Wichita police.

The family set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses.
