Thelma May Wilson
July 8, 1936 - December 3, 2020
Thelma M Wilson, age 84, passed away at 12:55 am on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Elm Haven South in Parsons, KS following an illness.
Thelma was born on July 8, 1936 in Oswego. She was one of 14 children born to Raymond and Rosa May (Wertz) Burrows. She had lived in Oswego most of her life.
She had worked at the Kansas Army Ammunitions Plant in Parsons and also at Diamond Coach in Oswego, but most of her working career was in childcare – working at Head Start and babysitting numerous children.
She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Oswego. She enjoyed arts and crafts, going to flea markets, shopping and traveling. She loved flowers and was happy when her husband would surprise her with a bouquet.
Thelma was married to Thomas Curnutte on July 4, 1952. He passed away on April 27, 1956. She then married Paul Wilson on June 1, 1957 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her four brothers – Tom Burrows, Floyd Burrows, Lloyd Burrows and a brother who died in infancy.
Surviving are four sons – Thomas Curnutte of Sugar Land, TX; Jake Curnutte (wife, Gena) of Oswego; Albert Wilson (wife, Connie) of Parsons, KS; and Donnie Wilson (wife, Brenda) of Miami, OK – and one daughter, Connie Wilson of Oswego. Thelma is also survived by her nine sisters – Ruth Rotert of Riverton, KS;s Wilma DeHart of Branson, MO; Helen Johnston of Riverton, KS; Dorothy Davis of Labette City, KS; Shirley Stalford of Oswego; Mary English of Riverton, KS; Glenna Jones of Oswego; Vicky Wells of Galena, KS; and Liz Tipton of Galena, KS; thirteen grandchildren – Greg Curnutte, Leann Moore, Seth Curnutte, Mark Carter, Cara Ruttgen, Brad Wilson, Jennifer Davidson, Kathryn Butler, Tammy McKee, Beth Molitor, Crystal Triebel, Tara Riley, and Josh Wilson; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Derfelt Funeral Home in Oswego, KS. Pastor Les Green will officiate. Burial will be in Labette City Cemetery in Labette City, KS.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 pm on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Derfelt Funeral Home Oswego, KS.
