Teddy Bear scavenger hunt catches on in Jasper County
Families practice social distancing, have fun outside
JASPER COUNTY, Mo. – A children’s book called, “We’re Going On a Bear Hunt,” is inspiring a chain reaction across area communities practicing social distancing.
Lining windows on streets throughout Carl Junction and Joplin, you’ll find stuffed animals sitting or taped in full view for kids to spot and count.
It gives families a fun reason to get outside and participate in a safe activity.
“Whenever we shared the idea with her [our daughter], she was super excited, ran and got the biggest teddy bear she could find to put it in the window, so I think that aspect of the community involvement makes it nice,” said Stephanie Simmons, a mother in Briarbrook.
If you want to join in the fun, just put a stuffed animal in your window!
