Kansas lawmakers send school funding bill to governor

An attorney representing four school districts suing Kansas says an education funding plan approved by lawmakers isn't adequate.Attorney John Robb predicted Thursday that the Kansas Supreme Court will reject Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly's plan for an education funding increase of roughly $90 million a year. 

Kansas resolution condemns New York abortion law

Kansas lawmakers have condemned New York's new law protecting abortion rights in a statement that will be sent to every New York legislator and its governor.    The Kansas House on Wednesday approved a resolution declaring that New York's law "violates the life and well-being of a woman and her unborn child."   

Missouri House passes wide-ranging abortion bill

Missouri's Republican-led House has passed a bill to ban almost all abortions if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.    The legislation approved Wednesday would ban abortions except in cases of medical emergencies. There would be no exceptions for rape or incest.

Kansas Senate committee endorses tax relief bill

Republican legislators in Kansas have advanced a proposal aimed at preventing corporations and individuals from paying more state income taxes because of changes in federal tax laws.    A GOP-controlled Senate committee endorsed a tax relief bill Thursday on a voice vote.
