Severe Outlook for Thursday September 20th

Our next cold front is still waiting in the wings off to our northwest, but it will start moving in on Thursday. With it, it’ll interact with plenty of moisture in place to get our chances for rain and t-storms to pick up. There may be a random t-storm or two late Thursday afternoon, but the rain chances pick up going into Thursday night and into Friday morning. Thankfully, we’re not anticipating any t-storms to become severe. It’s a different story north of us. The Storm Prediction Center has the better chances for severe weather pegged from Iowa and Minnesota over into Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The biggest severe threat up there should be in the form of damaging wind and large hail with the t-storms that develop Thursday afternoon and into Thursday evening. In the enhanced risk, t-storms could be strong enough to produce some isolated tornadoes.
