T-storm chances look to continue Wednesday

Severe threat shifts across Lower 48
T-storm chances look to continue Wednesday

For Wednesday, we’ll have both the surface system and the upper-level low work across the Central Plains. While it continues to keep periods of rain and t-storms around for us, the shift in these systems will bring a marginal severe threat for areas off to our south and southeast.

The best area for any severe activity Wednesday stretches from the Gulf Coast between Houston and New Orleans up into the Missouri Bootheel. The western parts of the area will start off with a line of rain and t-storms in the morning coming out of Texas and Oklahoma. As the front pushes these and additional t-storms off to the east, the main threats will mainly be straight-line winds. With strong low-level shear, a tornado or two can’t be ruled out along the line.
