COMMERCE, Okla. — Actor Sylvester Stallone has been in Northeast Oklahoma these past months (Tulsa, Oklahoma City) filming his upcoming series, “Tulsa King”.

Wednesday the Paramount + crew brought the production to Commerce, Oklahoma, filming scenes at the childhood home of baseball Hall of Famer, Mickey Mantle.

Tony Holden, the longtime friend of Stallone, owns the home and stated it’s great to be able to put the home to use. Holden shared images with Joplin News First from the day on the set (scroll down to check them out!).

The filming in Commerce wasn’t widely known, however, crowds still gathered to catch a glimpse of the set and actors.

As the day wrapped the Commerce Police Dept released a statement online thanking area agencies for assisting with security surrounding the set while filming.

CPD would like to thank the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the Quapaw Nation Marshals, the BIA and the Miami Nation Police who assisted with set security we could not have done it without them.”

“Tulsa King” is set as a fictional New York mafia capo, Dwight “The General” Manfredi, played by Stallone, spends 25 years in prison. After release his mob family sends him to Tulsa, to set up shop.

The show is written in part by Oscar-nominated writer Taylor Sheridan, the wiz behind “Yellowstone”.  Launching “Tulsa King” mirrors the release of Sheridan’s 2021 hit “1883”.

It was an honor for all who got to meet him and we hope Tulsa King is a huge success,” Commerce Police state.
