Suspect’s mother speaks out about Nevada fatal shooting

Officers from the Nevada police department and Vernon County Sheriff’s office responded to a disturbance in progress, July 21st, around 2:30 P.M.

30-year old Terah Hallam was shot and killed. 38-year old Jason Hallam was also shot and was transferred to Freeman hospital in Joplin.

The suspect, 20-year old Lance Berry has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

The suspect’s mother, Brandy Berry says this has been a nightmare. She says she saw how traumatized her son was and that she knows in her heart and gut how her son is, that he does not go out and hurt people. She says he is loving and kind-hearted.

Brandy Berry says that her son was protecting his girlfriend and their child.

She adds that no matter how the events transpired, her heart is with the family of the victims and that she hopes the children of the victims can heal from their loss.

Neighbors said they were shocked at what had happened because the suspect Lance Berry had only lived there for about a month.

We reached out to family members of the victims but did not hear back.
