Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting in Joplin
JOPLIN, Mo. — A suspect dies in an officer-involved shooting in Joplin Tuesday night.
Joplin police responded to a call of a suspicious person at 901 W Kensington road just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Authorities say the suspect was combative with police. The officers then deployed a taser, which was ineffective. During a confrontation, one of the officers opened fire on the suspect.
The suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died. The officers have been put on administrative leave while the Missouri State Highway patrol conducts an investigation.
Identification of the suspect will be released when proper notifications have been made.
