Suspect in death of Shawn Rockers to stand trial
Michael Osborne appeared in court today and was ordered bound over to Circuit Court for trial. He’s accused of stabbing Shawn Rockers of Joplin.
Detectives say on January 11th, 2019, Osborne stabbed Shawn rockers in the chest with a knife. Rockers was taken to Freeman Hospital where he died due to the extent of the injury from the knife wound. A witness on scene saw the incident, according to court documents.
A witness told authorities that the two had an altercation about a week prior to the stabbing, and that she heard Osborne state that he was going to kill Rockers.
The Prosecutors Office filed charges of first degree murder and armed criminal action against Osborne.
The Joplin Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Osborne, who had fled and was later arrested in Washington.
Osborne’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 29th.
