Sunday Evening December 15th – One more wave of wintry weather
Before we calm things down by midweek
JOPLIN, Mo. — Good Sunday evening, everyone. Sure enough, our first wave of wintry weather rolled on through the area today. The closer to I-44 you were today, you had of light drizzle/rain and freezing drizzle rain. As you worked closer to US 54 and certainly toward Kansas City, that’s where some snow mixed in for the day. Overall, everyone was cloudy and cold with highs only climbing into the middle 30s today. With one wave out of here, the next wave is ready to roll in. Ahead of it, we’re already seeing the next round of snow and a mix of freezing rain and sleet off to our west and southwest on the radar below…
That will be the second wave that will have to roll on through the area as we get a new work/school week underway for our Monday. This wave will bring us additional chances for a wintry mix followed by afternoon snow chances before we get a chance to clear the skies out Monday night and going into the middle of the week. Your latest look at Monday’s chances for wintry weather and snow, plus the rest of the week, is right below…
Don’t forget that Doug has your long range forecast out through February 1st of next year down below. Have a good night and a great Monday!
Long range forecast through late next January:
Next Week: We will warm back up early in the week with our next system rolling in on Christmas Eve and Day. This should be a rain over to sleet to snow event, so we need to watch it. Staying cold and dry the rest of the week.
December 29th – January 4th: Mainly a cool week with a system on New Year’s Eve and Day. This will give us showers but possibly over to snow by Thursday the 2nd. Cold the rest of the week.
January 5th – 11th: A mild start with a system working in on Monday. This will start as rain and likely go to snow on Monday. Staying cold through the week with snow showers on Thursday.
January 12th – 18th: A cool start to the week but mild temperatures for the middle of the week. Rain works in on Thursday that could go to snow with much colder temperatures on Friday.
January 19th – 25th: Cool with showers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. A bigger system on Friday and Saturday with rain and snow chances.
January 26th – February 1st: A cool start but a mild finish with just a few showers on Friday.
February: Very active and cold middle of the month with several shots for snow!
