The building on fire was a metal shop building next to a residence.

Chief Joe Perkins of Carl Junction Fire tells us on scene no resident was injured.

”There were over 30 round bails, a boat, and two tractors, and assorted farm implements in the building,” Chief Perkins tells us afterwards. “We had to completely disassemble the building to get the round bails out and broke open.”

The building was a total loss but residence 20 ft away was untouched.

“We were also able to save a dog and multiple goats,” he added.

Tankers were staged along Belle Center Road. As needed they shuttled to the fire which was about 1/3 mile off Belle Center.

Chief Perkins thanks their mutual aid partners and emphasized he was proud of the work his firefighters did. Crews were on scene until about 8:15 p.m.
