Stolen ammunition recovered during Joplin burglary arrest
JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin police request burglary charges against two residents accused of taking thousands of rounds of ammunition.
On March 3rd, 2021 the Joplin Police Department took a report of a burglary that happened at the storage units at U-Haul at 1410 E 7th Street in Joplin. The victims reported two generators and approximately 15,000 rounds of ammunition were stolen.
During the course of the investigation, two suspects were identified.
Police arrested one of the suspects on March 4 at the Super 7 motel at 3031 S. Rangeline Road. Investigators recovered about 12,000 rounds of stolen ammunition, a stolen handgun and an ounce of Methamphetamine.
Later that night, authorities located the second suspect at an apartment near 10th and Connecticut in Joplin. The man refused to exit the residence. Joplin called the SWAT team. After two hours, the suspect surrendered himself to police.
The Joplin Police Department submitted charges that include burglary and delivery of a controlled substance.
