KSHSAA releases state baseball brackets

Five local teams will play next week

PITTSBURG, Kan. - KSHSAA released brackets for state baseball tournaments on Friday. There are five local teams moving on to play at state next week.


Pittsburg (17-4) is the #3 seed in the bracket, and will open up the tournament against 6th-seeded St. James Academy (12-9) Thursday at 1:15 in Wichita. Click HERE for the full bracket.


Fort Scott and Chanute are both in the 4A state bracket. Fort Scott is the #1 seed, while Chanute is the #5 seed. Fort Scott (21-1) will play 8th-seeded KC-Piper (8-12) on Thursday at 11:00 AM in Salina. Chanute (13-7) will play #4 seed Buhler (19-3) at 1:15 PM. Click HERE for the 4A state bracket. 


Baxter Springs (17-5) will represent southeast Kansas in the 3A bracket in Emporia next week. Baxter Springs is the #6 seed and will face #3 seed Sabetha (18-3) Thursday night at 5:45 PM. Click HERE for 3A state bracket. 


The Humboldt Cubs (20-3) are the #4 seed in the 2A state tournament in Great Bend. The Cubs will open up the tournament with a matchup against #5 seed Heritage Christian Academy (13-6) Thursday at 1:15 PM. Check out the bracket HERE
