
JOPLIN, Mo. - Missouri Southern guard Lacy Stokes has been named a 1st team All-MIAA selection for the second straight season.Â
Stokes is averaging 16.2 points (#5 MIAA), 5.2 assists (#1 MIAA), 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 steals (#3 MIAA) this season.

Stokes is averaging 16.2 points (#5 MIAA), 5.2 assists (#1 MIAA), 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 steals (#3 MIAA) this season.
She is one of four Missouri Southern women to earn All-MIAA recognition Tuesday. Her teammates Layne Skiles, Madi Stokes and Kryslyn Jones were all Honorable Mention All-MIAA selections.

Missouri Southern sophomore guard Lacy Stokes repeated as a First-Team All-MIAA selection and four Lions overall were named All-MIAA as announced by the league today.

Lacy Stokes is the first back-to-back First-Team All-MIAA selection for the Lions since Sonya Harlin in 1993-94 & 1994-95 and is the second Lion in program history to be named to the All-Defensive team in back-to-back seasons. The native of Mount Vernon, Mo. averaged 16.2 points, 5.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 steals a game while having a 3.32 assist-turnover ratio. In Division II ranks she is fifth in assist-turnover ratio, eighth in assists, 14th in assists per game and steals, 30th in steals per game and 47th in made field goals. In the MIAA she ranks first in assist-turnover ratio, assists and assists per game, third in free throws made, steals and steals per game, fifth in field goals made and points per game.
Lacy has scored more points and provided more assists than any sophomore in program history, become the first underclassmen to score 1,000 career points doing so in the least amount of games in program history. In career ranks at Southern she is third in steals, fifth in assists, eighth in free throws made, ninth in free throws attempted and 14th in scoring.

Madi Stokes earned her third career All-MIAA and All-Defensive team selection after averaging 8.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.6 offensive rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game while shooting 55.7 percent from the field. The redshirt junior center from Cassville, Mo. was among the best in Division II, ranking fourth in blocks, 10th in blocks per game and 38th in rebounds and in the MIAA she ranks first in blocks, second in blocks per game, third in rebounds, fourth in offensive and total rebounds per game and sixth in defensive rebounds per game.

Madi now has the single-season and career blocks record for the Lions while having the most blocks by a freshman, sophomore and junior and is third in career rebounds and 20th in career scoring.

Jones earned her first All-MIAA honor as an honorable mention selection after averaging 10.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals a game while shooting 37.9 percent from three going 53-of-140 and shot 87.2 percent from free throws going 34-of-39. The junior guard from Edmond, Okla. Last season she was an All-LSC selection for Texas A&M – Kingsville and was an NJCAA All-American in 2020-21 at Seminole State.

Jones is the 18th Lion in program history to make 50 or more threes in a season and the first since Destiny Cozart in 2019-20. Among those that have made 50 or more threes in a season her shooting percentage from deep is the ninth best in program history.

Skiles earned her first All-MIAA honors as an honorable mention selection after averaging 8.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 blocks and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 36.3 percent from three going 45-of-124. The senior guard/forward from Purdy, Mo. has etched her name across the Missouri Southern record books with a program record 142 games played in her career, has the third most three pointers made and attempted and is sixth in career blocks.

Skiles is the only player in program history to score 500 career points, make 100 career three pointers, 100 career free throws and provide 100 assists in a career and has recently joined the 1,000 point and 500 career rebound club as the eighth player in program history.

The Lions will open up the MIAA Tournament on Friday at 6:00pm against Pittsburg State.

Jacob Lenard has accepted a job at PSU starting in June. "I knew the day would come eventually, but it's still much harder than I expected. I'm going to be leaving KOAM in June to take an opportunity otside of television. It really is a family decision for me. I've missed a lot of time with my son in the last 7 years. He's starting to get into sports and activities, and I wante to be able to be there for him. I get one shot to be a dad. I don't want to blow it. I love being the sports guy at KOAM. I appreciate all the love you guys have shown me since I took this job nearly 8 years ago. I hope you know how much I've enjoyed it and how much I love being around all the coaches, players and fans we have here. It's special place for local sports. I look forward to seeing you out there and thanking you in person over tthe next few months." Jacob -- Originally from Yates Center, Kansas, Jacob joined KOAM in May 2013, first as a news assistant, reporter, Sports Anchor/Reporter and now Sports Director. He graduated from Pittsburg State in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication, Broadcasting emphasis. Jacob took over as the Sports Director in June 2015. He is married, and has one child.
