KANSAS CITY, Mo. - FULL RELEASE FROM PITTSBURG STATE ATHLETICS:

Pittsburg State University senior return specialist Lorenzo West was named the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week Monday (Sept. 9) for his efforts in the Gorillas' season-opening victory over the University of Central Oklahoma last Thursday (Sept. 5).

West opened the 2019 season in style by returning the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in Pitt State's 37-35 road win against the Bronchos. The Lawton, Okla., recorded his third career kickoff return for a touchdown on the play.

West also finished the game with a career-high 236 all-purpose yards.
