Special delivery for a special guy
CARTHAGE, Mo. – Steve Edwards is a Carthage man who’s sitting on top of the world right now.
For weeks, he’s been receiving greeting cards, letters, and all kinds of cool gifts in the mail. And he has a loving cousin to thank for that.
“He goes to the mail box about 3 or 4 times a day just to see if he’s got any mail and he would never get mail,” said Steve’s cousin, Shanna Potter.
Shanna knows how much Steve loves receiving some well wishes in the mail, so she decided to do something about it and took to Facebook.
“It just like, spiraled. Everyone was sharing it. One day I look and I had 10 shares. And then my friends would share it, my cousins would share it, and it was crazy,” said Shanna.
Shanna put up a post asking friends and family to send something to cheer Steve up since he’s been stuck at home during the pandemic, and they delivered.
But it didn’t stop there. The post went viral, and soon Steve was getting cards and gifts from people all over the 4-states and all over the country.
“We take for granted the stuff we do, like going to ball games. And just to get a piece of mail is pretty special,” said Shanna.
The cards and puzzle books and other cool gifts are still rolling in, and home is the only place where Steve wants to be right now.
“People are really nice to me and they must be liking me. They love me,” said Steve.
