Southeast Kansas teen ropes his way to world champion status

Jake Holmes reflects on his commitment to rodeo

MULBERRY, Kan. – Becoming a champion Isn’t about natural born talent, its about dedication, sacrifice, and obsession.  At the age of 3, Jake Holmes of Mulberry, Kansas took to roping.  He dedicated all of his time and energy into the art, even home schooling so he could spend more time with his trainer in Wheaten, Missouri.  Jake’s dedication paid off in December when he took home the gold at the Junior World Finals in Las Vegas, becoming a world champion in the 12 and under tie-down roping and breakaway.

The road to the best in the world doesn’t come without sacrifice.  If you would like to see more of Jake’s story click here.
