Single-vehicle crash in Fort Scott claims life of Arkansas man

FORT SCOTT, Kan. – An Arkansas man dies in a single-vehicle crash in southeast Kansas.

The crash happened on May 7, 2020, around 9:30 p.m., on U69 north of 3rd St., just south of U54.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a semi-truck was traveling south on U69 when it hit the median curb, rotated 180 degrees counter clockwise as it crossed U69 and hit the pedestrian catwalk.

The driver of the semi, Hugo Herrera Aguilar, 58, of Springdale, Arkansas, died at the scene.

His passenger, Nori M. Santizo-Alvarez, 57, of Springdale, suffered a “suspected serious injury,” according to authorities.
