Sheriff: Body found in ditch under investigation in Crawford County
CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. – Authorities investigate after a female body is found in southeast Kansas.
According to Sheriff Danny Smith, a call came in shortly before 8:00 a.m. about a body in a ditch in Opolis. Opolis is near the Kansas/Missouri State line north of K171.
Smith says there are no obvious signs of foul play, but it’s not being ruled out at this time.
Authorities say the woman’s body is being sent to Kansas City for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
“We are in the process of confirming the identity of the victim and notifying the next of kin,” states the Sheriff’s Office in a media release.
Authorities do say she’s an adult.
