Seneca police officer lucky to be alive
NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – The chief of police in Seneca, Missouri says one of his officers is lucky to be alive after the officer’s vehicle was shot at multiple times during a Saturday night chase.
Chief James Altic says a truck with three people in it sped off after an officer attempted to pull them over.
During the pursuit, one of the passengers shot at the police vehicle with a rifle near the US-60 and Route 43 roundabout.
The truck eventually hit a tree and all 3 suspects fled.
Some time between 2 and 3 in the morning, police were notified about the shooter who was apprehended and sent to the hospital.
Later in the day, the other two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody and are currently being held at the Newton County Jail.
As of now, the suspects’ names and charges have not been made public.
