SEK women march in Pittsburg
PITTSBURG, Kan. — Women marched across the nation today, and here locally in Pittsburg.
Hundreds took to the streets, braving the cold for their annual Women’s March.
The Southeast Kansas Chapter of the National Organization for Women began their march on Broadway Street in Pittsburg, moving towards the Pritchett Pavilion where they met for their rally.
Speakers ranged from SEK NOW members to state and city officials, and even high school students,
all seeking equality and encouraging everyone to vote, as they raise awareness for women’s rights.
“It shows the community that these are the people that really want some change, and that there is a group of people, and if you see us out here in seven degree weather, that we are die hard,” said Brooke Saathoff with SEK NOW.
The group will host a meeting on Feb. 6 at Block 22 in Pittsburg to discuss upcoming events.
