School Security: Webb City district puts new measures in place

WEBB CITY, Mo. – The Webb City School District looks at its security system ahead of the new school year.

KOAM Reporter Segun Bamidele spoke with Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations Josh Flora today.

Flora says they’re adding more cameras and door sensors. He says the changes are due to the events going on around the nation. He added the district continues its commitment to keeping its students safe.

“With things going on around the nation, I think its a time we can always reflect and improve on how we can keep our students more safe throughout the school day,” says Flora.

He thinks safety is something they’ll always need to reflect on and see where they’re at. They’ll continue looking at improvements to keep students safe and allow them to have a good experience.

Flora tells Segun that the new security systems, like the cameras, could help address bullying around schools.

The Webb City School District is also updating its system for notifying teachers and staff of potential emergencies.
