The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has signed left-handed pitcher Franklin Morales to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training.

Morales, 29, earned a career-best six wins last season, making 22 starts (38 appearances) with the Colorado Rockies. He was 6-9 with a 5.37 ERA, winning three of his first four decisions. He was a member of the 2013 World Champion Red Sox, making three relief appearances for Boston during their postseason run. The veteran lefty has pitched in parts of eight Major League seasons with Colorado (2007-11, 2014) and Boston (2011-13) and owns a 19-27 career record with a 4.72 ERA in 233 outings (47 starts).
