Royals bring back Alex Gordon on 1-year deal

Gordon has spent his entire 13-year career in Kansas City.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Alex Gordon is returning to the field for the Kansas City Royals for the 2020 season.

After declining Gordon’s $23 million club option for the 2020 season, the Royals announced they’re bringing Gordon back on a 1-year contract Wednesday morning.

Gordon has spent his entire 13-year career in Kansas City, after the Royals drafted him 2nd overall in the 2005 MLB draft.

Last year, the 35-year-old hit .266. with 13 home runs and 31 doubles, driving in 76 runs. He also won his 7th career Gold Glove.

According to Jeffrey Flanagan, Gordon’s contract will be worth $4 million.
