Rotary Sculpture Garden opens in Mercy Park
JOPLIN, Mo. — Mercy Park in Joplin is now home to the Rotary Sculpture Garden.
The Joplin Rotary Club welcomed people to the garden on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Mayor Gary Shaw delivered a declaration to the crowd for the garden.
The new garden stretches across the walking trails through the park, containing nine different bronze statues all donated to the club.
The garden has been in the works for over five years.
One Joplin Rotary member says it’s great to see, but this garden is going to keep growing.
“It’s outstanding and it’s exciting. You do a lot of work to get to this piont, but this is really just the beginning. We have several other people talking about putting additional sculptures here,” said Bob Headlee with the Joplin Rotary Club.
