Rosemary A. O’Toole

Rosemary O’Toole, 94 of Girard passed away at 4:45 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2021 at the WestRidge Assisted Living of Girard, Kansas.
She was born January 22, 1927 in St. Paul, Kansas a daughter of George A. and Rose (Knott) Volmer.
Rosemary attended school in St. Paul and graduated from St. Francis High School. She then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and work as a dental assistant before returning to Girard.
On November 17, 1947, Rosemary and Frank O’Toole were united in marriage at St. Francis Catholic Church of St. Paul; Frank preceded her in death on December 1, 2006.
Rosemary assisted Frank on their farm, she later worked for the SEK Service Center for 15 years. She and Frank then moved to Girard to enjoy their retirement
Rosemary was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Girard, the Altar Society, and the Daughters of Isabella. Rosemary enjoyed singing and was a member of the St. Michael church choir. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, and bus trips. Her true joy was spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and visiting with friends.
Survivors include one son, Richard O’Toole and his wife Peg of Lenexa, Kansas, three daughters: Jean Ann Brill of Kansas City, Missouri, Peggy Schalansky and her husband Joe of Overland Park, Kansas, and Marilyn Hardesty and her husband Karl of Corona Del Mar, California, ten grandchildren, Kevin Brill, Tara Nunn, Kelly Masters, Kerri O’Toole, Amy McLellan, Megan Walter, Jenna Attwood, Tyler O’Toole, Ryan O’Toole, Austin O’Toole, and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Rosemary was preceded in death by one son, Randy O’Toole, three brothers; George Volmer, Bill Volmer and Cecil Volmer; three sisters, Garnett Boaz, Vera Diskin, and Clara Ebert.
Graveside services for Rosemary O’Toole will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24 at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Greenbush, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be given to the Greenbush Historical Society or St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Girard and these may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W. St. John St., P.O. Box 258, Girard, Kansas 66743.
